Our journey, our passion
Discover the story behind Funtail Farm, nestled in the heart of Masterton, New Zealand. Learn about our dedication to sustainable farming, the beauty of dahlias, and our commitment to creating a vibrant, community-focused space.

Our roots in Wairarapa
Our journey began when we moved to the beautiful Wairarapa region. We were instantly captivated by its wonderful climate and stunning natural environment. This inspiration led us to learn the art of growing dahlias and native plants using natural farming methods. The sheer beauty of these flowers and plants enthralled us, sparking the vision for Funtail Farm in this incredible setting. Our farm's name, Funtail, is a tribute to our beloved Shiba Inu, Ponky, whose tail curls up when he's happy. We aspire to create a fun-filled farm where both visitors and our team can always experience joy and delight.

Cherishing nature, creating beauty
At Funtail Farm, our core philosophy revolves around cherishing nature and utilising all resources without waste. What truly distinguishes us from other flower farms is our unique approach to leveraging this magnificent location and its breathtaking scenery. We harness the individual strengths of each person involved to meticulously create the landscape, design flower layouts, craft art, and construct our buildings. This collaborative spirit and deep respect for our surroundings ensure that Funtail Farm is not just a place to grow flowers, but a vibrant and sustainable environment.

A journey of innovation
Funtail Farm represents a new style of farming, where we are actively bringing our dreams to life by combining our individual experiences and unique sensibilities. A testament to this innovative spirit is our Walipini and Pa structures. These unique vegetable gardens, born from trial and error to successfully grow vegetables in the challenging, windy Mangatarere Valley, are unlike anything you'll find elsewhere. They stand as a symbol of our dedication to sustainable practices and our continuous pursuit of creative solutions in farming.
